Apple released its first developer beta for iOS 18.4 on Friday, which added a new “priority notification” feature powered by Apple Intelligence. The purpose of this addition is to help users manage notifications by prioritizing important alerts and minimize attention to less important police officers.
These priority notifications are displayed in a separate section on the phone’s lock screen. Apple Intelligence will analyze notifications it believes should be displayed in this section, but you can still refresh to view all notifications.
Currently, iPhones will sort notifications in chronological order, with the latest alerts displayed at the top. With the new features, you will see important notifications first – even compared to others, you received them some time ago.
according to 9to5macPriority notifications are turned off by default, but you can enable the feature by going to the Settings app, selecting the Notifications option, and then opening the Priority Notifications section. Here you can turn on the function.
