ZeniMax workers vote to strike over Microsoft negotiations


The communication workers of the American League announced today that Zenimax Media members – Bethesda And, due to the $69 billion acquisition of Microsoft’s subsidiary, it has voted to authorize a strike against Microsoft. Zenimax Workers United-CWA voted for 94% of leaders to authorize a strike, saying Microsoft failed to sign a contract with them after nearly two years of negotiations. They have been negotiating “better wages, improvements in the workplace and key issues, including the lack of remote work options and the fact that companies use outsourcing work in lieu of internal quality assurance work without notifying the union.”

The CWA has previously filed unfair labor practice allegations against Microsoft. It also organized a one-day strike where members of the Zenimax Workers Federation left the company’s offices in Maryland and Texas. “We are not afraid to do the necessary things to ensure Microsoft meets us on key issues such as remote work selection and outsourcing on the negotiations,” the union said at the time.

“Pay your employees a livable wage as a tens of millions of dollars in a company that they can do at least; however, when addressed on a bargaining table, our internal contractors do not pay because there is no paid wage because we are no longer paying financially.”
