New York Yankees World Series champion Brett Gardner and his wife Jessica posted an itu message for their late son Miller on Saturday After his death 14 years old while on vacation in Costa Rica.

“Our hearts are heavy, and the Yankees are filled with sadness after learning of Miller Gardner’s death,” the team said in a statement Sunday. “Vocabulary feels trivial and inadequate in trying to describe this unimaginable loss. Not only has Brett grown up in the organization for more than 17 years, but so have his wife Jessica and their two boys, Hunter and Miller.
“We are saddened by Brett, Jessica, Hunter and their community of family and friends to mourn the loss of Miller, with sparks in their eyes, extrovert and fulfilling personality and passionate and loving nature. Our love for the Gardner Family is unconditional and absolute and we will provide our lasting support while understanding their desire for this time.

Marisel Rodriguez Solis, media director of the Costa Rica Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ), told Fox News that the investigation has turned into the most likely food poisoning, but choking has not been ruled out.
The results of forensic and pathological tests can take one to four months.

Arenas del Mar Hotel called the doctor and gave them medication to help with stomach problems. The next morning, Miller Gardner was found dead from traces of vomit.
Costa Rican authorities are still investigating the cause of death.
