Write Warz is the title of the recently launched Boltz Entertainment, a collaborative party game that turns storytelling into a strategic (and often fun) war for opponents. Based on tradition Jack-style titles, such as quiplash or rifftraxWrite Warz instead, offers a longer form of storytelling avenue among friends, as up to 6 players can build narratives together. The game will be launched on March 6 in an early visit and comes with a theme of horror and pirates.
Warz Every game in Warz is a loop iteration, and each player contributes one or two sentences per turn. The winner’s writing adds stories, and so on, each story’s prompt is determined by the “settings” in the game (with pirates as theme, horror as theme). Each player has a choice avatar, and if the player’s sentence is a choice, it can be given to themselves and other players’ enthusiasts or debuffs. Depending on the type of game selected, there may be other complications, such as additional targets in word form or additional attacks that players can use to reduce the opponent’s time or word count.
Richard Boltz, CEO of Boltz Entertainment, gave GamesBeat a detailed introduction to the origins of the game, especially how it was inspired by the naval tradition his father told him: “It was the 70s, so there was no cell phone. Defeat the obstacles of writers with the help of friends
Currently, the game has two themes or different types of stories for players to write: horror, horror film, which borrows tips from Lovecraftian-style novels; and Pirate Adventures, and prompts that stunning stories are spread across the ocean. According to the game’s Steam page, Boltz is working on other themes, including anime-style elves and samurai themes. Each turn has unique mechanics that can change the gameplay – Pirate Adventure, for example, has a mechanic between them, allowing players to purchase offensive or defensive items to use each other.
Boltz also pointed out that writing Warz doesn’t have to be played in a party environment – the game can be played online for those who play with random people, and an AI robot, trained in language models that can be used as an opponent. Both come from the feedback from the players. “When we put the demo online, we noticed that a lot of people don’t necessarily have a friend group that can play with… We add AI to the game if you want. If you don’t have enough players and want to fight against bots , you can play the game yourself. If you are in a custom game, there are only two people, but you want to play with six people, you can add AI robots and they will interact like humans. We have even programmed custom personality to Games, so we have more than 30 different writing styles that robots use. Some robots will rhyme. Some robots will write like Greek philosophers. Some of them will write like Tolkien. People want it in the game , so we added it.”
According to the developers, it is also working on other projects players want, including streamer integration and potential drinking game modes. “We’ve heard everything, ‘You need to have this in school because you’ve already done creative writing.’ We’ve heard, ‘You need to have a drinking pattern. “If there is a group of writers who can all sit here and go into custom game mode and try to figure out what to write next.
