Longhorns are led by star Madison Booker, who already has experience in high-stakes competitions, especially in her country.
Mississippi State has won three gold medals in the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Youth Championship. Booker helped the U.S. win gold medals at the 2021 FIBA Women’s Americas Championship in Mexico, where she averaged 6.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
Next year, at the 2022 FIBA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Hungary, she averaged 5.6 points, four rebounds and 2.3 assists on the way to the gold medal.
The following year, at the 2023 FIBA Under-19 Women’s World Cup in Spain, she averaged 7.2 points and 5 rebounds per game, winning the third gold medal for the United States
This year, Booker is considered one of the best players in the women’s basketball game, winning the SEC Player of the Year and earning AP First Team All-American Honors. She did it all at 19 because she wouldn’t be 20 even before the game ended.
Unlike UConn and Bueckers, Booker and Texas are looking for rare feats in history.
In 1986, Texas once won a national championship. The program has been a perennial March Madness contender throughout history, even reaching the Elite Eight in three of the past four years, but they lost each time.
Now, Longhorns are back in their last four games for the first time since 2003. Booker hopes to pass her gold medal success to the national champion success representing the great state of Texas.

South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley wants to remind everyone responsible for women’s college basketball.
Staley is seeking a repeat title after defeating Clark in the national championship last season, her fourth title. The team made it to the Final Four for the fifth consecutive year, and it also proved that it could overcome the lack of superstar players like Bueckers and Booker, but also overcome distractions.
Last season, Staley led her team to the championship despite controversy when supporting trans athletes who were supporting women’s basketball players.
Dan Zaksheske of Outkick at a press conference Staley asked her what she thought Staley didn’t hide her thoughts about the burning issue.
“Yes, yes. Now, the people at barnstormer are going to flood my schedule and get distracted by me on one of the biggest days of the game, and I’m really happy with that. “I think if you’re a woman, you should play. If you think you’re a woman and want to play sports and vice versa, then you should be able to play. That’s my opinion.”
But, like Bueckers, Staley also thanked God after winning last year’s championship, and there was no problem.
“We serve God,” Staley said after the game.
“It’s the most unlikely group. Sometimes, I mean, God is so funny. He’s funny. He tear your heart apart, he makes you believe. He makes you believe in unimaginable.”
This year’s team will rely on a team without a household superstar, but a series of budding stars including Joyce Edwards, Chloe Kitts and Milaysia Fulwiley.

For a school historically defined by men’s basketball success, the Women’s Program has no better chance of taking a place in the sun than this year. UCLA has never won the Women’s National Championship, which will be the first last four games of all time.
Since taking over the program in 2011, head coach Cori Close has quietly and patiently established the sublime of women’s basketball.
The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) has not participated in the region since 1999. By her fifth season, UCLA returned to the 16th season, and since then, the Bruins have missed only two areas. This is the most successful run the program has experienced in the NCAA era.
Now, the fruits of her 2022 recruitment class are fruiting, with stars Kiki Rice, Londynn Jones and Gabriela Jaquez going to run through history.
