“I picked up this position today because I would love to play with openly trans people in the context of planned protests last year and the threat of violence last year. After speaking with a DGPT employee yesterday, they made it clear that they were reluctant to turn me into an earlier Tee time because I was worried about my fear of safety.
“They assured me that the event will be luggage checks, police and security guards during the event. There is no security or police presence after arriving this morning, and I am allowed to enter even if I don’t have my certificate.
Wilson added that she believes the decision will end her record golf career.
“I’m very likely ending my career today, and that’s OK because it’s bigger than me.”
