South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster declared a state of emergency Sunday as firefighters fought hundreds of wildfires in Carolinas.
“I announce State of Emergency To further support wildfire response efforts across the state and ensure that our first responders continue to have the resources they need,” McMaster wrote in an article on X. “The statewide outdoor burn ban remains in effect – there will be prosecution. Please notify in time. ”
According to the South Carolina Forestry Commission (SCFC), nearly 5,000 acres of land have been burned in Palmeto, with 170 fires reported.
Ignition is caused by very low relative humidity and dry fuel due to the lack of heavy rain. Strong winds cause fires to grow and spread rapidly.

The biggest fire was in the Carolina Forest, a community, a community 10 miles away Myrtle Beach in Horry County.
According to the SCFC, wildfires have burned 1,200 acres, or 0% as of Sunday afternoon.

The Horry County Fire Department said more than 400 firefighters fought at least 127 fire ceremonies.
As of Sunday morning, no structure has been lost and no reports have been reported.

The South Carolina Army National Guard dispatched two Blackhawk helicopters Sunday to assist the SCFC and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources in wildfire containment.
According to the guards, the Black Hawk bucket can carry about 600 gallons of water.
The SCFC has also issued a state forester burning ban for all counties, which prohibits all outdoor burning, including burning debris of yards, prescription burning and bonfires, and has burned and bonfires in all uncategorized areas of the state.

The ban will be sent to anyone who has put the fire in jail until further notice.

According to Saluda Fire & Rescue, the burning of the Melrose fire in the Saluda and Trion communities was caused by lowered power lines. The fire spread rapidly to the mountains, threatening multiple buildings.
