White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt insisted on Tuesday that “all options are on the table in every country” when it comes to deals that violate the latest U.S. tariffs, but warned those retaliating against President Donald Trump “has a steel spine that he won’t break.”
Levitt said that since Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariff announcement, 70 countries have contacted the president to start negotiations.
“On the other hand, countries like China that choose to retaliate and try to double the abuse of American workers are making mistakes. President Trump has a steel that he will not break.” 34% retaliatory tariffs China unveiled the United States last week.
Levitt told Fox News senior White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich that Trump was “very focused on making sure these deals are good for American workers and for American manufacturing” and that “they addressed these cruel deficits in these countries.

“Every country has all options,” she said. “But again, this will be a tailor-made deal. As the president said, they won’t get off the shelf deal. He has instructed his entire trading team to be part of this effort.”
Levitt also said: “Countries are reforming their own unfair trade practices and freely opening up markets to our countries.

Levitt declared: “From the beginning to countries around the world, the president’s message has been simple. “The United States does not need other countries but other countries.
