White House blows up Ivy League agencies to “seriously illegal acts” carried out by the Trump administration Harvard University’s head-to-head Install changes for the governance and admission process of academic institutions.
After Harvard refused to comply with a series of requests from the Trump administration to conduct various actions on campus, the administration revealed on Monday that it would freeze more than $2 billion in federal funds.
When asked why federal funds are available for institutions like Harvard, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said it was a president Donald Trump Raise yourself often.
“This is an obvious question the president has raised in the discussion, not only with Harvard, but also with Columbia and many other Ivy League agencies,” Levitt told reporters Tuesday.

“We have an anti-Semitism task force, and the president has committed and delivered anti-Semitism,” Levitt said. “The government’s anti-Semitism task force, representatives from various federal agencies meet weekly to discuss the questions you just asked. I think many Americans are wondering why their taxes go to these universities when they instill not only instill students in our country, but also allowing this mean illegal act.”
But Harvard President Alan M. Garber said in a statement Monday that other demands made by the Trump administration are not just to address the issue of anti-Semitism on campus, but that the agency will not comply because the requirement is unconstitutional.
Garber said the new requirement “directly regulates Harvard’s ‘intellectual status directly”, including audit perspectives of students, faculty and staff on campus and eliminates all diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs, offices and initiatives at Harvard.
“It is obvious that the intention is not to work with us to resolve anti-Semitism in a cooperative and constructive way,” Garber wrote. “We have informed the government through legal counsel that we will not accept the agreement they proposed.”
The Trump administration’s Justice Department announced a federal task force in February to offset bias on campuses that have encountered incidents targeting Jewish students since October 2023.

The task force evaluates behavior on the following campuses: Columbia University; George Washington University; Harvard University; Johns Hopkins University; New York University; Northwestern University; University of California Los Angeles; University of California at Berkeley; University of Minnesota; and University of Southern California.

“Harvard’s statement today reinforces a disturbing mindset of rights, which is local in our country’s most prestigious universities, that federal investment is not a responsibility to uphold civil rights laws,” the task force said in a statement Monday. “The interruptions in learning that has plagued campuses in recent years have been unacceptable. Harassment by Jewish students is unbearable.
“It’s time for elite universities to take the issue seriously and commit to meaningful changes if they want to continue to receive taxpayers’ support,” the statement said.
