WhatsApp users can now add songs to their Status updates | TechCrunch

WhatsApp emission A new feature on Friday, where users can include short music clips in their status updates, reminiscent of the Myspace era.

The status is similar to Instagram’s stories and allows users to share photos, videos, and text that disappears after 24 hours. When creating a new state, users can leverage music notes icons to select from millions of available songs. They can post up to 15 seconds of music clips to get photos and can be used for videos up to 60 seconds.

The release of music clips follows the parent company Meta to introduce similar features to Instagram, where users can add songs. Overview,,,,, notesand posts.

WhatsApp features similar, but with a key difference: Music shared on state is end-to-end encrypted, meaning only friends can see the songs. WhatsApp itself cannot view songs shared by users.

WhatsApp has begun rolling out new features worldwide and will continue to expand availability in the coming weeks.
