Amazing pictures showing women Baby Mammoth, Dating back more than 130,000 years, it was recently dissected by Russian scientists.
The mammoth, nicknamed “Yana”, was analyzed on March 27 at the Northeast Federal University in Yakutsk, Russia.
Photos of the autopsy show a group of scientists huddled around a 397-pound animal, very similar to modern baby elephants. As the scientist opens his skin, the creature’s mouth opens and her trunk is curled.
Scientists initially believed Yana lived 50,000 years ago, but the estimate has been updated to 130,000 years later after scientists analyzed the permafrost she was found.

Maxim Cherpasov, head of the Lazarev Mammoth Museum’s lab, told Reuters last year that the Mammoth Elephant was over one year old after his death. When the body was found, the body had been partially consumed by predators.
“Usually, the part that thaws first, especially the trunks, is often eaten by modern predators or birds,” Cherpasov told Reuters.
