But Gretzky wasn’t just peaceful, but his record was tied together and soon fell.
“It’s OK…that’s what the game is all about,” Gretzky said to Ovichkin tied the Memorial Sports Network.
“Alex is a perfect match for the game, and it’s a perfect match for Washington’s home country. It’s great. I’m proud of him, I’m proud of my achievements, and that’s what makes our game so good, the great athletes we have and more importantly, they’re good people.”

Gretzky made his all-time NHL goal score on March 23, 1994, when he surpassed Gordie Howe with his 802nd professional goal. He scored another 92 points before hanging cleats in 1999, bringing his total to 894.
