Massachusetts Democrats Senator Elizabeth Warren Defending her call for the SEC to investigate President Donald Trump’s allegations of market manipulation and internal trading, calling such investigations “completely appropriate.”

Warren, along with other Senate Democrats such as Ron Wyden, Oregon and Chuck Schumer of New York, sent a letter to the SEC chief on Friday calling for an investigation into alleged market manipulation, a 90-day pause in which custom tariffs were made to foreign countries during Trump’s reciprocal tariff announcement and the subsequent 90-day pause.
“We urge the SEC to investigate tariff announcements that resulted in the market crash and subsequent partial recovery at the expense of the U.S. public, and a priori suspension of tariffs by any insider, including the President, to enable the president to announce stock transactions announced in advance,” he said.
