Virginia gov promises ‘full cooperation’ with ICE to deport illegal immigrants

Virginia became the latest in a handful of Republican countries, forcing its law enforcement officers to work with federal authorities to deport illegal immigrants.

Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin issued Executive Order 47 Tuesday afternoon, demanding State law enforcement agencies A formal agreement with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) promises to “fully cooperate” in helping them identify and deport undocumented illegal immigrants. The governor invoked federal law under the 1965 Emigration and Normality Act, which allows state and local law enforcement officers to enter into agreements to “federalize” them to perform certain actions in support of federal immigration enforcement.

“Dangerous crimes of illegal immigrants should not allow our communities to attack, rape and murder,” Youngkin said in announcing the new mission. “They should be sent back where they came from.”

Experts say Trump’s “gold medal” visa program provides a blessing to the U.S. economy.

While Virginia is just the latest in a handful of Republican countries, forcing its law enforcement to work with ICE, the scope of these new collaboration requirements varies from state to state.

Some states, Like Tennessee Forced cooperation has been implemented specifically for the pursuit of criminal undocumented immigration. Others, such as Virginia, are instructing their police to assist in the arrest and deportation of any undocumented immigrants living in their state illegally.

Under the new order from Youngkin, Virginia State Police will use the ICE to sign a “Memorandum of Understanding of the 287(g) Task Force Model” to create a “State Police Task Force” to help identify and arrest “criminal illegal immigrants” who pose risks to the public.

The agreement gives these federal adjutants special authorizations to enforce Immigration law enforcement Under the supervision of ICE, they are not usually involved.

This Agreement will allow Virginia Department of Corrections facilities to be used in immigration matters such as handling and detention.
