Minister of Defense Pete Hegseth Fox News can confirm that several assets have been deployed to the region, including Iwo Jima, Lake Erie, Jason Dunham, Grace and USS Sampson, to target criminal organizations and Narco-Terrorism.
“In order to support the President’s directive to demolish Transnational Crime Organization (TCO), Foreign Terror Organization (FTOS) and anti-Narco terrorism defense of the land, the Minister of Defense directed Iwo Jima (IWO) (USSOUTHCOM) Area of Responsibility (AOR) on Iwo Jima Island,” Defence spokesman Colonel Chris Devineon told Fox News.

“The Arleigh Burke class has guided violence destroyer Jason Dunham (DDG 109), Severe (DDG 107), USS Sampson (DDG 102) (DDG 102) and boarding the U.S. Coast Guard law enforcement team, currently operating in the region.”
Hegseth also sent air assets “to strengthen our entire government detection, monitoring and interception capabilities to maintain pressure on the TCO networks throughout the region”.

“The enhanced presence of U.S. forces in USSOUTHCOM AOR will enhance the U.S. capacity to detect, monitor and undermine illegal actors and activities that undermine U.S. homeland security and our security in the Western Hemisphere,” he said. “These forces will enhance and expand the existing Joint Inter-Agency Task Force – South and Usouthcom’s ability to undermine narcotic trafficking, downgrade and remove TCO and FTOS.”
