UCLA backup quarterback Pierce Clarkson was arrested last week on an unspecified felony charge in California and was subsequently suspended, according to online records and school officials.
Clarkson, 21, was arrested on Friday Los Angeles Police are facing felony charges, according to online jail records from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. His bail was set at $30,000 and he was released later that day after the deposit was issued.

Although there is no charge of his nature on the online record, the Los Angeles Times reported that he was arrested for alleged attacks with a deadly weapon, resulting in serious physical injuries.

The University of California’s track and field department issued a statement confirming Clarkson was suspended in “the outcome of legal proceedings.”

“We are aware of the allegations against Pierce Clarkson,” the statement read. “He suspended all team activities indefinitely prior to the outcome of the legal process. This situation will be assessed by the UCLA Office of Student Conduct and any further actions taken will be in line with the assessment and university policy.”

Clarkson is from Bellflower, California. He is the son of famous quarterback coach Steve Clarkson. He has not played for the Bruins this season. He will return to court next month.
