Ubisoft has the company’s internal color blindness assistance tool. It is Through GitHub, it is described as a “one-stop solution for detecting problems with color blindness in games”.
This is how it works. It throws a filter on the game screen that simulates various types of color blindness. This allows testers to tag accessibility issues in real time. The tool uses color Oracle algorithm and integrates with single or dual-screen settings. It works with hotkeys and has a customizable overlay for adjusting settings. Ubisoft said applying filters will not hinder gaming performance.
It is important to pay attention to what the software does and who it is. It simulates how a person with color blindness will experience the game, allowing developers to take action. It won’t fix anything on its own. But, knowing that half of what they say is half. This move by Ubisoft should allow other developers to resolve these issues before shipping the game out of the door.
Ubisoft isn’t the only company to expand the availability of accessibility tools. EA Recently Open source. This includes photosensitive and speech recognition technology.
