Uber to let customers book helicopter and seaplane flights

Uber partnered with Air Taxi Company Joby Aviation to enable customers to book air travel on the Rideshare Service app.

Joby acquired Blade Air Mobility in August and is working with Uber to add the flights to the ride-hailing reservation service. Blade offers seaplane, private charter and helicopter flights.

In 2024, Joey said in a joint press release with Uber, Blade flew more than 50,000 passengers in Europe and the New York metropolitan areas, including Manhattan, John F. Kennedy International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport.

Uber said on its app that Joby’s goal is to eventually offer its own electric aviation taxi flights, aiming to seat four seats and travel at 200 mph.

Joeben Bevirt, CEO of Joby, said: “Integrating Blade into Uber apps is the natural next step in our global partnership with Uber and will set the stage for the introduction of our quiet zero-emission aircraft in the coming years.”

Jomi said that although there is no specifying the type of aircraft provided by the blade flight, which aircraft Uber will use on Uber.
