Authorities said two people died Saturday morning when Tesla drove through a red light and hit a pickup truck and a bus in Fullerton.
According to a press release from the Fullertton Police Department, the Tesla driver blew traffic signals and slammed into the side of a Toyota pickup truck and drove into the side of a Toyota pickup truck shortly before 7 a.m., before entering the Orange County Transportation Administration bus, then hit the side of a Toyota pickup truck, then hit the side of a Toyota pickup truck, heading west on East Orangethorpe Avenue.
Police said a female Tesla passenger was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after, and the male driver suffered serious injuries at a local hospital. Five bus passengers were also taken to local hospitals and treated for minor injuries.
Police don’t know if alcohol or drugs play a role in the crash. The victim’s identity was not released immediately.
