President Donald Trump On Tuesday, an executive order was signed requiring people to provide proof when registering for a vote and requiring review of all ballots on Election Day.
The order requires a government-issued U.S. citizenship proof of its voter registration form, directing the Attorney General to enter into an information sharing agreement with state election officials to determine election fraud or other cases Election law violationsand federal election-related funds for states that comply with federal election integrity measures.
“We will take other steps in the coming weeks,” Trump said before signing the order. “We think we will be able to finally get a fair election.”

“It’s an honor to be able to sign this,” he added. “I signed all of this to sign it is a huge honor.”
The order notes that the United States has failed to implement basic and necessary election protections.
Election experts immediately criticized the move, saying it would disenfranchise millions of voters.
Brennan Justice Center in New York University writes on X. “The president has no right to do so. This order, like the current pre-Parliamentary Saving Act, will hurt voters and suppress votes.”
The U.S. Guarantee Voters’ Qualification Act (called the “Save Act”) is a bill proposed by Republicans that will make large-scale changes to voter registration, including requiring voters to introduce documents that prove U.S. citizenship.

However, the United States has not fully implemented federal election requirements, such as those prohibiting votes received after Election Day or prohibiting non-civil servants from voting. ”

Under the terms of the order, Trump directed the Election Assistance Commission to change the federal voter registration form and demand a government-issued proof of citizenship.
The order also attempts to prohibit mail ballots indicated by election officials after the day of the election.
