“The non-shaping components and functions of the following government entities should be eliminated to the greatest extent consistent with applicable law, and such entities should reduce their statutory functions and the performance of relevant personnel to the minimum existence and functions required by law,” read EO.

Kari Lake, Trump appointed the next VOA chief in December, is currently a senior adviser to the US global media agency and tells employees to “check your email” for more information about their employment futures.

The seven government agencies targeted in the order include: Federal Mediation and Reconciliation Services; US Global Media Agency; Smithsonian Institution’s Woodrow Wilson International Scholar Center; Museum and Library Services Institute; the United States Inter-Homeless Council; Community Development Financial Institutions Fund; and the Minority Business Development Bureau.
