President Donald Trump Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth vowed to raise the Pentagon budget to more than $1 trillion for the first time.
Trump said in a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the upcoming budget would be “near” $1 trillion, a significant increase in the $850 billion budget this year.

The budget for all national security programs, including the Ministry of Defense, nuclear weapons development and other security agencies, is $892 billion this year.

“We have got very, very strong military power. We have orderly things now.”
White House officials are expected to reveal their budget proposals later this spring, and then Congress reviews the appropriation process.
Even a $1 trillion budget wouldn’t put the U.S. on what Trump claims is NATO countries spending on defense: 5%.

But the president said the cash influx will be used to start production on new equipment and technology.
“We never had that kind of aircraft, that kind of missile, anything we ordered,” he said. “In many ways it’s too bad that we have to do it because hopefully we don’t have to use it.”
The Trump administration recently announced a Boeing contract for the Air Force’s sixth-generation fighter F-47, which the service department expects to cost about $20 billion from 2025 to 2029.

“We know all the other planes,” Trump said. “I’ve seen each of them and haven’t even gotten close yet. It’s a next level.”
Announcements on the Navy’s next-generation fighter aircraft F/A-XX have stalled, and Naval Operations Chief James Kirby told reporters on a “Contract for the New Jets” Monday that it was conducted at “secretary level and above.”
