McMahon says Title Unit IX “Women and girls in this country will benefit from discrimination and insults in educational activities.”
“The movement to protect women and women is a key focus of the Justice Department,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said Friday. “This collaborative effort with the Ministry of Education will enable our attorneys to take comprehensive action when threatened by women’s movement or space and leverage the full power of the law to correct any violation of women’s civil rights.”
The department consists of OCR investigators and attorneys, the DOE General Counsel Office, and the DOE Student Privacy and Protection Office, as well as case workers and FSA law enforcement investigators. The department also includes lawyers from the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division.

Trump and Democratic Maine Governor Janet Mills banned women’s sports in February due to Trump’s order. At the National Governors Association meeting, Trump accused Mills of continuing to allow trans women to participate in women’s sports, violating federal orders. After the confrontation, the Trump administration began an investigation into the Maine education department.
The USDA has also frozen certain educational programs in Maine due to the state’s rebellion. Agricultural Secretary Brooke Rollins said that if Maine is consistent with the federal interpretation of Title IX, the funding freeze can be cancelled.
