Federal District Court erroneously blocks the president Donald Trump’s The federal appeals court ruled Tuesday that the government temporarily received billions of dollars in climate grants.
The District Court of Washington, D.C. approved an injunction that prevented the Trump administration from withholding $16 billion in climate grants. Tuesday’s ruling from the Washington, D.C. Circuit Court found that lower courts hold their powers in the authority to do so, and Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is acting in its role to provide “appropriate oversight” of how funds are allocated.
Judge Neomi Rao wrote in the court’s opinion: “We concluded that the District Court abused its discretion to issue an injunction. The grantees are unlikely to succeed in the merits because their claims are contractual in nature and therefore jurisdiction is only in the federal claims court.”
“Although the District Court has jurisdiction over the constitutional claim of the grantee, that claim is unfavorable. In addition, the stock strongly supports the government, which on behalf of the public, must ensure proper oversight and management of the multi-billion dollar fund,” the opinion continued.

The case involved the grant of $16 billion in EPA grants in the inaugural government to promote five nonprofits to promote greenhouse gas emissions reductions. Nonprofits include the Climate Joint Fund, Green Capital Alliance, Large Forward Community Companies, Inc. and Justice Climate Fund, Inc.
When Trump took office, the new EPA reviewed the program and tried to cut funding flows. Five nonprofits subsequently sued and the district court granted them an injunction.
Judge Rao wrote that records show that the EPA revised the grant agreement “makes harder for the administration to terminate the grant” a month before Trump took office.

The opinion also points to statements from an EPA employee who said the EPA under President Joe Biden, who was “just trying to get the money away as soon as possible” after the Trump election victory.
“The staff compared the situation with the situation where the gold bars were thrown away from the Titanic,” Rao wrote.
After that, Trump’s EPA reviewed the grant program and tried to kill it.
“It’s great to see rationality prevail in the court system,” an EPA spokesman told Fox News Digital on Tuesday. “The EPA has a duty to be a special administrator of the taxpayer dollar. Administrator Zeldin canceled these grants due to well-documented concerns, self-interactions and conflicts of interest, unlimited recipients, and intentionally reduced oversight by agencies. The Golden Bar recipient’s jurisdiction over these valuable public limitations that fall under public entertainment is wrong.
The United Climate Foundation responded to the ruling shortly after the ruling, and CEO Beth Bafford condemned the result.
“While we were disappointed with the group’s decision, we firmly adhered to the merits of the case: EPA illegally freezes and terminates legal funds Obligation and payment. This is another obstacle to our struggle to reduce energy costs, and for those who create jobs for hard-working Americans, we will continue to urge communities across the country that will benefit from clean, abundant and affordable energy. This is not the end of our path. ” Baford wrote.
Tuesday’s ruling allowed nonprofits to appeal the decision. Four other organizations did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, the EPA has carefully looked at our actions to ensure that the agency is more capable than ever to achieve our core mission of protecting human health and the environment while also powering the great American comeback,” EPA administrator Lee Zeldin said in a July statement.
