The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Civil Rights (OCR) said Friday that Maine’s “violations” have been cited with Title IX Rules Go to the Ministry of Justice to enforce the law.
Maine continues to resist the president Donald Trump’s Executives orders prohibit trans athletes from participating in women’s and women’s sports. HHS provides the state with a 10-day correction policy through a signed agreement or referring the risk to the Department of Justice.

“Today, OCR puts Maine’s non-compliant titles non-compliant restrictions to @thejusticedept in court as he continues to allow men to compete against women illegally,” the department announced in a post on X.
“HHS will continue to protect women’s sports and provide American women and girls with the promise of IX title.”

The District 51 of Maine School is home to Greeley High School, and transgender athletes have caused national controversy after winning the women’s pole vault in February. Not complying and will “continue to comply with state laws and the Maine Human Rights Act.”
The Maine Principals Association said in a statement that it is also “bound by law, including our participation in the Maine Human Rights Act reflected in the policy.”

Rep. Laurel Libby, Republican of Maine, identified the athlete’s name in a photo in a social media post, and the situation involving trans athletes at Greely High School has attracted national attention. Libby was later condemned by the Maine Legislature, after which she filed a lawsuit to overturn it.
Trump signed the executive order “No men in women’s sport” in early February, which led to multiple track and field associations that match it and gave a few thumbs up the nose under the order. Maine’s problems surfaced at a meeting of the National Governors Association.
Trump threatened to cut federal funds because biological male and female sports are not prohibited.
The next day, Mills’ office made a statement threatening a legal lawsuit against the Trump administration if the administration withheld federal funds. Then Trump and Mills spoke verbally in a widely publicized argument at the White House during a bipartisan governor meeting.
“Don’t you want to comply?” Trump asked Mills.
Since then, multiple protests against the mill have been held outside the state capitol, and the University of Maine system works with the Trump administration to ensure that no trans athletes participate in women’s sports after the temporary funding moratorium.

OCR announced last week that it found the Maine Department of Education, the Maine Principals Association and Greeley High School, violating Title IX as they continue to include transgender into women’s sports.
OCR Acting Director Anthony Achreval previously issued a statement to Fox News Digital Warnings to warn of potential consequences of continuing violations of executive orders.

“HHS requires the Maine Department of Education, the Maine Principals Association (MPA) and Greely High School to be simple – protecting the rights of female athletes. Without male competitors, girls should accept sports with only girls. If Maine is not allowed to come to the table to voluntarily comply with Section IX, HHS, HHS will enforce the IX IX, which will be authorized by the IX Title IX, which is permitted by law.
