The program was launched in 2022, first applying to Venezuelans and then expanding it to other countries.
The Biden administration has argued that CHNV will help reduce illegal border crossings on the southern border and influx of immigrants entering through the U.S.-Mexico border to better review people entering the country.

Since taking office as part of the immigration agenda in January, Trump’s efforts to evacuate the law and illegal immigration from the United States have encountered many legal obstacles.
The Trump administration is also reportedly demolishing the DHS internal regulator, including its Office of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, which investigates allegations of abuse and discrimination within immigration enforcement, according to reports.
