“We are an African people, and we belong here. We have no other home. In the personal note, my great-grandfather came to the United States in 1676 to declare his arrival in Africa in 100 years.”
Orania was founded in 1988 and claims it is completely white, with the Africa population growing by an average of 10-12% and commercial projects growing by 26%. It has its own water purification and solar system. In one of the driest areas in South Africa, Orania farmers have successfully developed corn, wheat, pecan nuts, almonds and livestock.
Orania has established its own Afrikaans school and a university, and plans to open its own university.
