The electronic system of travel authorization (ESTA) is a system for passengers to screen passengers before traveling to the United States under a visa waiver program.
“If you have a gender name X in your passport, or if you have a gender change, it is recommended that you contact the U.S. Embassy before traveling for guidance on how to do it,” the website reads.
Finland has also updated its website in recent weeks.
“U.S. authorities may deny a travel permit or visa application if the gender listed on the applicant’s passport does not match the gender assigned at birth.” Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on its website.
