Top official at FBI New York Field Office forced to retire

Senior Official FBI New York Outdoor Office Forced to retire on Monday and apologize to colleagues for not being able to fulfill his commitment to the post for at least two years.

Former FBI Director Christopher Wray appointed James Dennehy as assistant director of the FBI’s field office in September 2024.

“I was told on Friday afternoon that I needed to put my retirement paper into today. “Anyway, I apologize to everyone because I was unable to fulfill my ADIC NY commitment for at least two years.”

“But when I left today, I had a huge sense of pride – an office representing a professional who would always do the right thing for the right reasons; they would always seek truth in upholding the rule of law; who would always follow the facts, no matter where they are, will no doubt never be biased towards your synthesis; who will always remain independent,” he added.

Dennehy provides a top ten list of his job with the FBI, although his commute is not one of them.

But the items on his list include investigation, strength, FBI branding, friendship, badges, independence, and everyone who works with him.

“I’ve been told many times in my life, ‘When you find yourself in a hole, it’s best to quit digging sometimes,” he wrote. “Screwed up. I’ll never stop defending this joint. I’ll do it from outside the wire with willingness and pride.”

Dennehy’s departure is the latest in a series of strikes under President Donald Trump’s new administration.
