Tennessee softball star enters NCAA record.
Mrs. volunteer pitcher Karlyn Pickens seized the mound on Monday and continued to throw the fastest course in college softball history. Pickens’ historic pitch takes place in Tennessee’s sixth inning Oppose Arkansas.
Her pitch is 78.2 mph.

Pickens had a previous top speed of 77 mph, which made her tied to former Tennessee pitcher Monica Abbott.
Abbott scored in the 2012 National Pro Rapid Competition against Carolina Diamonds in 2012. Pickens have thrown two balls this season to reach 77 mph.

“I was so excited to celebrate this with my team at first. I found the game was cooler than the way I found it at home,” Pickens said. Knoxville News Outpost.

Pickens did not give up on the blow in 4.1 innings on the mound. She also hit six Arkansas batsmen.
She added: “And it was a little excited. All the work we did as pitchers, every one of the things that helped me guide my work – it was a very surreal moment. It was really special.”

Pickens received SEC pitcher of the year honors last season. Her ERA in 89.1 was 0.86.
