On October 6, Battle Night and the disappearance of Suzanne, the Simpsons and their five-year-old daughter attended a party in Argyle, the exclusive Ritzy club in the Alamo Heights. Bystanders witnessed the couple’s “verbal dispute” within the party, according to the arrest affidavit.

After the party, Suzanne and her daughter apparently went to a grocery store and arrived at their home shortly after. Later that night, Suzanne called her family and friends and told her she was stopping and then called her mother to tell her that Brad had beaten and hurt her.

At about 10 p.m., family and friends neighbors reported seeing Brad and Susanna arguing loudly and “body struggled” in front of his house.

Neighbors observed Suzanne “trying to get rid of Mr. Simpson’s mastery as he tried to pull her down.” According to the documents, neighbours also observed Brad chasing his wife and trying to catch her. The neighbor later heard the screaming of the wooded area opposite his home.

About an hour after witnessing Susanna and Brad Simpson fighting at home, the same neighbor saw Brad’s truck leave the area and then return about an hour later.

The next day, surveillance footage from various places around San Antonio allegedly captured Brad’s use of garbage bags, heavy-duty garbage cans, a refrigerator and “fridge and large chunks of items fixed in the blue tarp” and was fixed in the blue tarp by a firewood rack. When security videos of later that day captured Brad at a gas station, his truck no longer had white garbage bags visible.

Apparently he was seen buying two bags of cement, a construction bucket, a box of heavy-duty garbage bags, Clorox disinfectant spray and cash repellent from nearby home warehouses. Later that day, after picking up his daughter after school, he was seen washing the truck.

Suzanne’s friend reported that she disappeared on the evening of October 7. Police contacted Brad Regarding his wife’s disappearance, he allegedly told them that he had never seen her since about 11 p.m. on October 6

On October 8, Brad exchanged text messages with his long-time friend and business partner James “Val” Cotter, who was also charged.

“If you’re in Bandera, can you drag A-to see me at your house?” Simpson allegedly sent a text message to Cote. “I don’t have much time.”

In his later text to Brad, Cotter wrote: “Come here! I won’t tell anyone” and “You are my brother.”

Cotter is accused of tampering with evidence in order to undermine the investigation and possession of the banned weapon in Suzanne’s disappearance. He released Bond in November 2024.

Authorities arrested Brad Simpson on October 9, 2024 and arrested Kurt on October 21, 2024. They also searched his truck and identified stains that tested “positive for blood” that were tested and determined as Brad’s blood.

Bexar County Crime District Attorney Joe Gonzales announced in December that Simpson had “hidden” the “reciprocating saw” two days after his wife disappeared, authorities told the family that her DNA was found on the saw.

Simpson remains in the prison in Bexar County, with bonds totaling $3 million and held by federally owned by alcohol, tobacco, guns and explosives. His attorney could not be contacted for comment.
