A weak storm caused rain in parts of the Los Angeles area on Sunday morning with potential for strong winds and thunderstorms later in the day.

Sirard said the current weather system’s overall total rainfall is expected to be minimal, but thunderstorms may enter valleys, mountains and deserts near downtown Los Angeles later Sunday. There may be snow on the hills on Sunday, including snow along I-5 along the north of Castaic.
“There may be some travel difficulties,” Sirard said.
Later this week, the National Weather Service predicted moderate precipitation on Monday, with a second storm coming Wednesday and Thursday. The risk of debris flow is very low, with snowfall levels ranging from 3,500 to 5,000 feet, the service said.
