Videos posted at the event appear to show Kirk being shot dead while talking to the crowd under a white pop-up tent.

After the shooting, the crowd dispersed and onlookers shouted “Run, run, run!”

In a statement to Fox News, Ellen Treanor, vice president of strategic communication management at Utah Valley University, said the shooting occurred around 12:20 p.m. local time.

In campus-wide alerts, Utah Valley University “Flame a visiting speaker on campus. Police are investigating,” said the police.”
