“As SoftBank Group expands its investment in AI infrastructure in venture capital such as Cristal Intelligence and Stargate, the acquisition will help strengthen SoftBank Group’s capabilities in key areas and accelerate its growth plans,” the company said in a statement. After the deal, Ampere will maintain its name and operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary, which is expected to take place later this year, pending regulatory approval and other conditions of closure.
“With a shared vision to advance AI, we are excited to join SoftBank Group and work with the portfolio of leading technology companies,” Ampere CEO James said in a statement. “This is an excellent result for our team and we are excited to push our Ampere roadmap for high-performance arm processors and AI.”
