Social media explodes after Dems do not stand for 13-year-old cancer survivor: ‘Truly sick people’

When the 13-year-old brain cancer survivor was asked to become an honorary Secret Service agent, most Democrats seemed to be sitting still, which drew quick criticism Tuesday night.

Trump administration official Ric Grennell tweeted about the interaction between the 13-year-old and the president: “A terminally ill child with brain cancer has received an honorary Secret Service Award, and Democrats refuse to stand or applaud.”

“Democrats refuse to represent children who survive brain cancer! How bad can a party be?” Outkick founder Clay Travis tweeted.

Republican activist Scott Pressler posted on X: “The Democrats don’t even represent boys who survived brain cancer.”

Libs of Tiktok posted on X. “Democrats refuse to stand or applaud.”

New York Post columnist Miranda Devine posted on X. “It’s hard to believe that bad Democrats can’t even praise a little boy with brain cancer or Kennedy who wants America healthy again.”

However, others have emphasized the overall importance of the moment.

“This is the first time I remember crying while in ITU status. Thanks President Trump,” Meghan McCain said. “It’s so beautiful. Anyone who has been affected by brain cancer knows how special it is.”

Some Democrats protested at the beginning of Trump’s speech Tuesday night, and even at the request of House Speaker Mike Johnson, the Weapon Sergeant evacuated Rep. Al Green. Rep. Jasmine Crockett of D-Texas and Sen. Bernie Sanders of D-Texas also quit the speech very early.
