Snapchat’s new Lens lets you create AI images using text prompts | TechCrunch

Snapchat is launching a new lens that can create and edit images using text to AI generators, the company specifically tells TechCrunch. The new “Imagination Lens” is available for Snapchat+ Platinum and Lens+ subscribers.

Imagine that the lens allows the user to create, edit and recreate snapshots by typing their own prompts. They can then share the image with their friends, post it to their stories, or share it outside of Snapchat.

Although Snapchat already has many generated AI lenses, the company notes that Image Lens is its first open and timely image generation lens.

Users can use custom prompts to generate images such as “create images of grumpy cats” or “turn me into an alien.” The lens also has preload tips that people can use, such as “turn me into four to five panel comics, but unexpected but heroic happenings”, “turn me into an interesting comic” and “let this guy jump”.

Snapchat notes that users can click on the subtitle bar at any time to prompt it to edit anything they want.

The Platinum subscription is priced at $15.99 per month, while the Lens+ subscription is priced at $8.99 per month.
