Snap has launched the second edition of its Snap OS, which powers AR glasses, called Snap Spectacles. The update includes a new native browser, WebXR support, and more. The release is also ahead of this week’s Meta Connect conference where the company is expected to reveal updates to its latest smart glasses, AI and other technologies.
The company says SNAP OS 2.0 introduces a faster browser that is easy to use. SNAP optimizes page loading speed and power usage to allow users to navigate quickly.
There is also a new home screen with widgets and bookmarks on it, and an updated toolbar that allows users to enter or say website URLs, navigate history and refresh pages. Additionally, users can now resize windows like they would on laptops.
SNAP notes that browsers now support WebXR, allowing users to access the augmented reality experience directly from any WebXR-enabled website.
In addition, there is a new spotlight lens that covers the real world in space. Now users can do things like cooking dishes while watching videos of their favorite creators.
