Five people were rescued and recovered after a small private jet taxied from the runway Oregon Airport and enter the nearby bay.
Southwest Oregon Regional Airport (OTH) shared that a small private jet ran off runway 23 at runway 23 when landing early Monday morning.
Officials say 2019 HA-420 attempts to land shortly after 6:00 a.m. It slipped off the runway and enter the bay.
Officials said the plane was located about 100 feet of water at the eastern end of the runway.

Officials said the emergency dispatcher was immediately notified and sent out a rescue mission.
The emergency response team at the scene included OTH aircraft rescue and firefighters, the Coos Bay and North Bend Fire Department, the North Bend Police Department and the Coos County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said the pilot and four passengers were rescued from the plane and taken to a local hospital. The airport said their situation is not yet clear.
Officials said the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) was reminded and authorized a salvage company to remove the small aircraft from the water.

With the investigation into the incident, the aircraft will be fixed on the airport property near the runway where the incident occurred.
“This is an evolving event,” the airport wrote in an article on its Facebook page.

The airport said commercial air service was suspended for Manchester United Express but has since resumed.
Skywest 5509 flight was postponed, but the airport said the flight was scheduled to arrive at OTH on Monday at 2:14 p.m.
