A wildfire in Inyo and Mono counties stimulated the evacuation Sunday night as it spread rapidly under strong winds and low humidity.
According to the California Forestry and Fire Department, vegetation fires were reportedly at 2:11 PM and Silver Canyon Road on Highway 6 north of Bishop.
The fire jumped on the highway, threatening “multiple structures”, Cal Fire BDU “Aircraft, heavy equipment and other engine requirements,” said in a post on X.
