Privacy-centric messaging application signals Announce On Monday, it introduced a feature that allows users to back up their text conversations for free as well as the last 45 days of media. It also debuts its first paid feature by offering a full media backup of up to 100GB of storage.
Historically, messaging applications do not allow users to store backups of any conversations on the platform. This can be especially troublesome if you lose or break your phone. While you can transfer conversations from one phone to another, there is no cloud backup. The new feature finally solves the problem, making the signal a more valuable application for secure messaging.
Signal’s free tier provides users with 100MB of text storage, as well as media for the last 45 days. The company said in its blog post that it stores messages after compression, and 100MB is enough for “heavy” users.

For users who want to store the media over the past 45 days, the company will offer a paid plan of $1.99 per month and use 100GB of storage.

This is Signal’s first paid feature, and the company says it is charging users with privacy-assisting storage costs.
You can enable secure backup from your application settings and start backing up your content every day.
Signals use zero-knowledge technology to ensure their backups, so they have no links to specific users or specific payment methods. The user will receive a 64-character recovery key that is generated on the device to unlock its backup. Among Signal Competitors, WhatsApp provides The user must enable the optional feature end-to-end backup.
