Rob Less Announce On Monday, it is launching the first iteration of its 3D model, called “Cube”, to allow creators to create 3D objects using the Generative AI. The company also launched an open source version so anyone on the platform can build on it.
Announced at Roblox last year Annual Developer Conferencethe company demonstrated the cube at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) late this afternoon.
The creators will access Cube later this week, including its first tool: grid generation.
Cube’s 3D mesh generation is currently available in Beta, allowing creators to use a prompt to “grid” or 3D representation of the object’s representation. For example, “Generate orange racing cars with black stripes.” Creators can further tweak in-game projects in Roblox Studio.
The open source version of Cube 3D allows anyone to customize, create plugins or train models with their own datasets to meet their needs.
Roblox has also announced three other AI tools – text generation, text to speech and voice to text. These features will be available in the coming months.
Text generation tools allow developers to add text-based AI capabilities to their games. This includes the option to provide players with conversations with interactive non-player characters (NPCs).
Meanwhile, text-to-voice voice can add narratives, NPC speech or include spoken subtitles in the game. Voice-to-text allows players to use voice commands, such as indicating characters to move forward.
Roblox explained that the company’s other future plans include launching grid generation to create more “complex” objects and scenarios. For example, the scene generation tool will allow creators to prompt the AI to make a complete forest scene and change the green leaves on the tree to fall color to show the seasonal changes.
As Roblox said earlier last year, the long-term goal is to get 3D objects and scenes to function as the fullest, called “4D creation.”
“The fourth dimension is where objects, environments and people interact,” Nick Tornow, vice president of engineering at Roblox, told TechCrunch.

Like any company exploring the generation of AI tools, Roblox believes Cube will help creators work faster, allowing independent developers to work on larger projects. The company has released a variety of AI tools, including Texture generation and incarnation creation.
AI tools in the game are a hot topic, with several companies making progress in the field. Recently, Tencent launched open source 3D Generation Modelaims to generate 3D models through text prompts or 2D images.
However, the use of AI continues to attract attention in the industry. As shown GDC’s latest report30% of game developers believe that generating AI has a negative impact on the game space. according to CVL Economics ResearchIt is estimated that by 2026, 13.4% of gaming jobs may be affected or replaced by AI.
