In a Ritzy enclave South Florida, Chinese immigrants landed on the shore through ships, leading to an investigation into human smuggling networks.
Coral Gables is a picturesque city located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, known for its Mediterranean revival architecture, tree-lined streets and lush landscapes. According to Zillow, a coral gable community, gable estate, has been named the country’s most expensive housing market.
But in recent months, this dazzling city has seen it Chinese immigration intercepted.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data, the city’s rise represents the influx of Sunshine State since 2020. In 2020, Florida Border Protection Officers interacted with 406 Chinese immigrants, and by 2024, that number jumped to 723 – a 78% increase.

The vehicles were stopped by officers and the woman allegedly kidnapped was taken from Toyota. Between U-Haul and Toyota, police found more than 20 Chinese immigrants, a man from Cuba and a woman from Ecuador.
“We do believe these people were brought here by water,” the chief said. “They may have been put down, and we assume we were walking to the van they were loaded in somewhere near the southern end of the coral gable.”

Brown said he believes immigrants are entering illegally through the United States Northern border With “more security”.
“It is much easier to fly to South American countries and smuggle over than Canada,” he said. “Human smugglers are using established avenues throughout South and Central America to pass safely.”

At the end of January, Florida law enforcement intercepted dozens of Chinese nationals in the coral gables. Coral Gable Police said two smugglers were arrested, one from Cuba and one from Puerto Rico.
“In just one week, the second time the very alert residents saw suspicious activity and were later identified as illegally entering our country,” Hadak said. “They called the Coral Gable Police and within minutes our police department arrived in the area and detained 26 Chinese nationals and two men (a Puerto Rican and a Cuba) in two separate vans.”

Brown noted that the border initially saw a large number of family groups fleeing to China, but Now, two-thirds of Chinese immigrants entering the United States are single men from the military era, traveling alone, claiming that they can’t speak any English.

“There is a need to better discuss sharing resources and increase air technology at the border between the state and the country,” he said. “For example, the use of surveillance drones and updating technologies could be a good starting point.”
