Openai predicts a major shift in the next five years around the shift from which it derives most of its computing power, Reported information On Friday.
By 2030, Openai is expected to receive three-quarters of its data center capabilities from Stargate, and the project is expected to be heavily funded by Softbank, One of Openai’s latest financial supporters. This is a major shift with Microsoft, Openai’s largest shareholder, which meets the strength needs of most startups today.
Changes don’t happen overnight. Openai still plans to increase its spending on Microsoft-owned data centers in the coming years.
During this period, the overall cost of OpenAI will grow dramatically. The information report says Openai is expected to spend $20 billion in cash in 2027, with reported $5 billion burning in 2024. The startup is used to train AI models.
