Boston Red Socks Star Rafael Devers seems to boycott Alex Bregman when he gave up third base, his defensive metrics made him a better person when spring training was made.
The initial reaction was an immediate debate between fans and experts, with the main theme being Devers’ relationship with BregmanBoston signed a three-year, $120 million free agency contract.
However, it was clear from the start that manager Alex Cora will do the best for the Red Sox, and his latest comment on Devers basically confirms how this season will start in whose game.

Cora told reporters Wednesday that Devers “probably won’t play” at third base before spring training ends.
In turn, Devers may enter Open Day As a full-time designated hitter in Boston.
Devers initially said he had a conversation with Team Brass and expressed hope to not take on the role.
Devers said last month through his interpreter: “Third base is my position. I don’t know what their plans are. I know we had a conversation. I made it clear that my desires and yes, I don’t know, whatever happens.”
While it is undeniable that Devers is confident in all his baseball abilities, the Red Sox is certainly the love in their cornerstone work, but after his initial comments spread, he gets a more focused answer.

“I’m so happy to do whatever they want,” Devers told reporters during spring training. “I’m here to help you. I’ve talked to them about this and they know where I stand. I’m ready to have fun.”
Devers is a three-time All-Star third baseman, but his metrics – six points above average compared to Bregman’s six games – were never the best. He said he worked hard to execute the position, but Devers would move here when Bregman signed.
But first baseman Triston Casas added fuel to Devers’ comments, who believed he believed third base was the Devers’ claim location, and Bregman should play the second base, which was replaced.

However, the Red Sox clearly demonstrated their mentality to enter the 2025 campaign, and they are expected to make the playoffs after not doing so in 2024, while Bregman played third base throughout the spring.
Bregman hasn’t seen any reps in second base yet.
