“Vivek is the premier outsider in the United States and the best person to make Ohio the best to live, work and raise a family,” Moreno said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital.
He added: “I am proud to join President Trump in recognizing a bold leader as the next governor of Ohio.”
Moreno announced that he recognized Ramaswamy at an event on Saturday night. “The first moral responsibility of elected U.S. officials to American citizens is what it means to American citizens,” Ramaswamy wrote on X. “Senator Bernie Moreno understands this and does not apologize for it. He is a star in the U.S. Senate and I am proud to get his recognition tonight. Our party unites in Ohio and we won’t waste it.”
Another Senator from Ohio, John Hust, is also a Republican, who served as the evacuation seat of Vice President JD Vance. Some political observers believe that it was Ramaswamy, expected to be backed by Trump and strong financing, formerly the busy Ohio lieutenant governor who was reluctant to accept a Senate appointment rather than launching his own bid for governors in his main state. Husted was previously considered the leader for the governor.
