Protesters riots outside the immigration processing center near Chicago have sparked clashes with federal law enforcement and condemned by the Department of Homeland Security, which says local “sanctuary” politicians are causing chaos.
U.S. immigration and customs enforcement are in the middle of a surge in action in the Chicago area, and activists vow to resist.
The protesters threw the can back to the Ice Officer as Homeland Security tried to disperse the crowd with tear gas on Friday.
The Department of Homeland Security said the thugs also attacked officers, cut tires and tried to close the entrance to the building. The department said the van is sending protesters to and from the scene to provide reinforcements.
Meanwhile, protesters said the puck hit the crowd with pepper and reported several arrests.
In an incident captured in the video, protesters blocked the door and used the corpse to try to stop the SUV from leaving. The officers in disguise appeared to assist the vehicle and used gas tanks to create corridors. Protesters with homemade shields grabbed a can and threw it into the facility.
The man was taken to the ground by several officers, as was another protester rushing toward Scrum.
The vehicle eventually pushed the crowd into the crowd without hesitation until the line of protesters breaks and is released.
“The violent targets of not being able to thugs against law enforcement in Illinois are mean, and Governor JB Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson must call for an end,” said Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin. “From the comparison of the modern Nazi Gestapo to the glorifying mob, the violent rhetoric of these shelter politicians will kill law enforcement officers. This violence against Ice must end.”
The Department of Homeland Security said attacks on ICE officials have now increased by 1,000% compared to the previous year.
Resistance to ice has become a badge of honor for democratic politicians.
Chicago Sun Age reported that she was a Democratic candidate for the Illinois congressional seat during the protests and said she was pushed to the ground by an ice official.
A few days ago in New York City, Comptroller Brad Lander was arrested after a show of the facility and said he would not leave until he ensured the release of the immigrants were detained there.
Ms McLaughlin said the resulting chaos led to dozens of arrests, and the building was locked after someone attacked the bomb threat.
