Prosecutors introduced their final witness at Ryan Routh’s federal trial on Friday and were charged with attempting to assassinate the president Donald Trump September 15, 2024 at his West Palm Beach Golf Club.
FBI oversight Agent Kimberly McGreevy testified financial records, telephone data, license plate readers and surveillance evidence that traced the movement of Routh from Hawaii to Florida ahead of the assassination attempt.
McGreevy read aloud a handwritten note and Rout allegedly stayed in a box at his home in Greensboro, North Carolina. The comment begins: “Dear world,…this is an assassination attempt against Donald Trump, but I’m sorry, I’m disappointed you…it’s time to complete the job.” The letter also mentioned a $150,000 reward. McGreevy testified that the bank transfer showed Routh had money to pay the money.

Jurors were presented with evidence of accounts shared by Routh, his daughter Sara and his son Adam, including $162,000 deposited to Sara’s account on March 15, 2024 and transferred to another account for $160,000 on the same day. McGrevi also showed the so-called Venmo deal, which transferred money from Sarah’s account to Ryan Routh.
Prosecutors presented phone records showing online searches about Trump’s campaign schedule, rally tickets, golf courses and personal whereabouts. McGreevy said the calls also showed a search for “How many bullets does the SKS rifle hold?” September 4, 2024 and hundreds of gun images. A text exchange submitted to the jurors was between Rous and a connection called Vladmir. After sending the aerial image, exchange the reads:
Vladimir: “Palm Beach, yours?”
Rolls: “Trump’s plane. He’s getting on and off every day.”

McGreevy testified that Routh’s “national basis” between August 14 and September 15, 2024 is a marathon truck station in South Bay, Florida. McGrevey said the receipt indicated he paid cash to park overnight there.
Body cam video of welfare checks at the truck stop showed Routh wearing Madras Print shorts, later found in his Xterra and seen in airport surveillance, as Rout watched as Trump’s plane rose on September 7.
Jurors were also shown license plate reader data, placing Rolls’ black Nissan Xterra in the Palm Beach area, including March 29, March 30, March 30, March 31 and April 3, 2024. McGreevy said one plate was registered to Sara Routh, another was another car, and one plate was not distributed.

Prosecutors also showed photos taken in a burner phone in Routh that showed a map of the 14th hole of Trump Golf Course with multiple pins falling – visible in reflection. They compared it to another photo showing the SKS rifle being supported on a tree in the same hole. Nearby, investigators found a 56-ounce sun pleasure bottle that matched the receipts recovered from Routh’s vehicle.

Inside the court, Routh smiled and wore a blue blazer, a white shirt and a red striped tie, according to a Fox News reporter in the court. His daughter Sara is the only family member, taking notes. Ruth also took notes, occasionally leaning back, lifting one leg up and laughing when testimony accused him of paying for the hardware supply in cash.
