Ryan Routh’s federal trial accused of attempting to assassinate former president Donald Trump Monday resumed Monday after a week of sitting down, opening statements and a series of early testimony in a round of golf in September 2024.
Only two days of testimony last week, prosecutors called 13 witnesses – mainly the FBI and Secret Service Agent – Lead jurors to investigate and respond safely to the alleged attack.
Prosecutors opened Thursday, reading Ryan Routh’s own words – “can’t be elected Trump” and “I need Trump to go away” – argued that he had drawn for months, traveled from Hawaii, and placed a rifle at the Trump International Golf Club and was ready to fire.

The jurors were also shown photos, and the prosecutor said, linking Rous’s clothes to the scene, including the prosecutor’s pants with red stains, compared to the red paint on the bags recovered from the brush. Routh’s cross-examination is brief and sometimes strange, asking witnesses “Is it okay to be alive?”“ Ask them on the AK-47 mechanic.

Judge Aileen Cannon, appointed by Trump, told jurors that the jurors expect the trial to be 5:30 p.m. every day. As the government continues to provide evidence, more FBI agents and law enforcement witnesses are expected to be listed on Monday.
