Pope Leo According to a Jesuit pastor and a champion of a more inclusive Catholic church, his predecessor’s attitude toward the LGBTQ community appears to be continuing to take on the attitude toward the LGBTQ community.
“I heard the same message that Pope Leo heard, and I heard it from Pope Francis, which is welcome to everyone, including the LGBTQ people,” Father. James Martin Tell the Associated Press After Monday’s meeting.
Martin added: “It’s great. It’s very comforting, very encouraging, and frankly, a lot of interesting things.”

The Jesuit Pastor, hosted the “Spiritual Life” podcast and was the founder of Outreach, the LGBTQ Catholic Ministry, who met with the late Pope Francis several times.
The Catholic Church teaches that homosexuality is not inherently sinful, but any sexual act outside of marriage between a man and a woman is sin. Some conservatives who responded to Pope Francis’ proposal to react negatively to Pope Leo’s meeting with Martin, while others praised it as a welcome development, the Associated Press reported.

“The information I received from him was clear and he wanted to continue with the advancement of Pope Francis, which is an open and welcome kind,” Martin wrote. “So, this is a promising continuity message.”
Martin does admit that the LGBTQ issue may not be the priority of the Holy Father in light of current events, such as in the wars in Ukraine and Gaza.
“So, while the LGBTQ problem is in his range, it may be more pressing for the time being,” Martin said. “Even if the LGBTQ problem is solved, he may not be as fast as some people want. From the same token, he may be acting too quickly to others.”

In 2023, before he became Pope Leo, still Cardinal Robert Prevost, the future church says the church wants to be more popular. He was elected Pope, and he made a comment in 2012 that criticized the resurfaced “gay lifestyle” in media reports.
