After Sunday’s final round, McIlroy and Spaun were both under 12 strokes, a long day with four hours of rain delays.
The round was forced to be delayed due to weather and lightning at Ponte Vedera Beach in Florida, which is expected to avoid potential expansion on Monday considering the game’s rise.
However, due to the degree of delay – 1:15 pm to 5:15 pm, it is inevitable how the golfer ends the final round.
For McIlroy, he was the first to complete an 18-hole race, and he hoped a 74-foot putt would make a birdie on his last hole. He had the right speed, but he had a very left-handed pace and ended up finishing par with 68 under 68 to allow him to win the game.
McIlroy went to sign his scorecard while watching what Spaun did in the group behind him.
Spaun entered the final round on Sunday, hoping to release another round, but despite being named under 12 strokes on his tee, he tried to keep going.
He started two days and then posted 37 on the first nine holes before Bird Hole 9. But he would bogey at 12 o’clock, forcing 2 rebates back to the scorecard, and finally see some golf shots start.

Spaun hit the bird holes of 14 and 16 and eventually returned to the following 12 matches to the 17-year-old iconic TPC Sawgrass Island Green. But his tee was conservatively hit the green middle instead of seeking the iconic very right-hand fixed position on Sunday.
Spaun will hit two strokes and get his standards to understand his fate may be sealed one way or another on the 18th hole.
As McIlroy watched from the clubhouse, Spaun’s last tee of the day entered the straw on the right side of the fairway, only dripping there after trying to stick to the roughness.
But despite slipping on the grass, Spaun is able to hit a good way to look at birds over 20 feet.

As fans flocked to the 18th green, Spaun entered his putt and had a nice stroke on the ball as the ball rolled toward the hole. But it didn’t have enough juice, only a few spins, and Spaun couldn’t believe it.
With a championship, the playoffs will be on Monday, and will be 16, 17 and 18 games to determine the winner of this year’s Player Championship.
As far as the PGA Tour career goes, this is David vs. Goliath, as McIlroy has Spaun’s 27 Tour Wins.
